One of India’s most serene and enchanting cities is known as Nainital. Known by the name of the enthralling lake called ‘Naini’, this place is no less than paradise on earth. The alpine mountains protect the natural habitat and add beauty to the landscapes. The lush green meadows and the sight of the cows grazing through the multi colored florals and the rainbow of butterflies that scatters hither thither is a treat to the eyes. A calm and peaceful getaway, away from the hustle bustle and noisy concrete jungle, this flora jungle created by mother nature is a place to be.

Nainital is popularly known as the Lake district of India because of the varied topography and a treasure trove of natural resources. Spread over more that 10 sq km and at an altitude of around 1938 m, the populace of the region speak Hindi, English and Kumaoni. Though the majority of the people follow Hinduism, Muslims and Sikhs are also found in plenty. Nainital has a variety of tourist destinations like the modern astronomical observatory which has a good exhibit of telescopes and binoculars. Then, the Naina Peak is one other place to visit. From here you can enjoy the panoramic view of Nainital as it is the highest peak in the Region.  Then there’s the British Cemetery, St John’s Church and the Khurpa tal valley. The Naini peak is the most apt location for the bird’s eye view of the Khurpa tal. The Naina Devi temple is also a fascinating destination in Nainital and is nestled just above the Naini Lake.

Adventure sports like fishing, pony riding or horse riding are few of the exciting and fun sports to enjoy when in Nainital. The scenic view of the clouds whispering into the snow capped Himalayas simply leaves you spell bounded. For a two in one advantage Bhimtal is a good choice as it has an awesome restaurant in the middle of an awe-aspiring lake. Even the Tiffin Top & Dorothy’seat is a beautiful location which houses a stone seat carved in the memory of an artist named Dorothy.

Many other interesting places include Hanuman Garh, Governer’s House Etc. The beauty of the place is enhanced by the delicious food that includes Indian food and Chinese mostly. The most important of all, it is a Shopper paradise too with loads of  jams, jellies , Tibetan woolens, organic products etc. Thus, Nainital is an eye candy for the visitors and to India too.
